Every great architecture begins with a solid foundation. It takes tons of steel and concrete to solidify the foundations of some of the tallest buildings in the United States. It is important that the builders get the foundation right before moving any further in the assembly of the building. If they neglect to get the foundation solid, it could result in disaster.
The same is true for a tree. God has designed all of earth's plants to grow down before it can grow up. Below every grand and sturdy tree, you'll find a remarkable system of roots. The roots play a vital role in the life of a tree. Roots anchor the trunk and branches. Roots provide stability when winter winds blow. Roots absorb nutrients - oxygen and minerals - from the soil. Roots store food - carbohydrates - produced by the tree.
The goal of the Bethel Baptist Church Student Ministry is to encourage teens to develop a solid root system centered around God, that will help them to grow into mature believer. Our desire is that they will develop deep beliefs, principles, and attitudes based on the Word of God. Then that they will use their "roots" to anchor, nourish and preserve them as they carry out God's will for their lives. Without being deeply rooted, teens are susceptible to the disease of sin that all too often stunts the Christian growth of a teen. The nourishment they need to grow will come from ....
